Community Involvement

Altruism was important to our founder and is equally important to us today. Fittingly, Moran Reeves Conn professionals contribute their time, talents, and dollars through pro bono legal work, community service, and other forms of volunteerism.

Pro Bono WORK

We aim to help close the justice gap – the difference between the legal needs of low-income Americans and the resources available to meet those needs. MRC pro bono chair Taylor Brewer serves on the board of directors of the Greater Richmond Bar Foundation, which connects volunteer attorneys with pro bono opportunities. Taylor also serves as the triage champion for pro bono protective orders, pairing volunteer attorneys – including several from MRC – with victims of domestic violence who need legal representation in seeking protective orders.

Taylor and Stewart Pollock are MRC’s representatives for Firms in Service, a network of law firms and businesses that work together to increase the availability of pro bono legal services. Through its participation in Firms in Service, MRC has committed to providing and reporting the hours its attorneys devote to pro bono work. We are proud of Taylor, Stewart, and the other MRC attorneys who volunteer their time and expertise to pro bono matters throughout the year.

community engagement

We strive for year-round connection with our local community. Most of our community service efforts serve the needs of underserved populations in Central Virginia. Recent benefactors include a children’s hospital, a food bank, a women’s shelter, and multiple schools.

The entire MRC family demonstrates great enthusiasm and generosity towards firmwide community service initiatives. For instance, our attorneys, paralegals, and staff have helped clean up Evergreen Cemetery, a historic African-American cemetery that lacked perpetual care in its 1891 charter. We have held drives to raise funds and in-kind donations for local food banks, children’s hospitals, and women’s shelters.
