The Client Choice awards, established in 2005, recognize law firms and partners around the world that stand apart for their excellent client care and quality of service. Nominations for these awards can only be made by senior in-house corporate counsel. The primary focus of the Client Choice recognition criteria is whether a lawyer has an ability to add real value to clients’ businesses. Lexology and the International Law Office conduct readership surveys of in-house counsel subscribers, through gathering feedback at international in-house counsel events and via the Client Choice website. In-house corporate counsel are asked to rate lawyers and law firms on the following criteria: quality of legal advice, commercial awareness, industry knowledge, strategic thinking, billing transparency, tailored fee structures, value for the money, responsiveness, effective communication, clarity of documentation, sharing of expertise, appropriate staffing, project management, use of technology, loyalty and ethics.
